Loss of Heterozygosity (LOH)
Although CGH is a powerful molecularzytogenetic method for the screening of a tumor genome for chromosomal imbalances it has some methodological limitations, e.g. CGH does not detect balanced chromosomal translocations or inversion. In addition, it is particularly difficult to analyse small interstitial deletions by CGH. We therefore use a related moleculargenetic method for the confirmation of DNA loss, i.e. the assessment of loss of heterozygosity (LOH).
